Düreforsög, which translated into English means "animal testing", are blazing new trails in the music scene by culling their vast, diverse range of influences (Residents, This Heat, Melt Banana) and honing them into their own unique sound, and, while young, goes back to 1993, the year when the original members met.

Produced by Peter Peter with Goodiepal, their first Kool Arrow release Exporing Beauty featured alongside the band's original recordings, a collaboration with Bjørn Svin . Exploring Beauty came out in the spring, and compared to their Danish debut album 'Knee', more emphasis was placed on melody rather than rhythm; each idea on the album was treated with depth without losing any intensity. What was created was a more varied and dynamic sound. Yet, it would be very difficult to put an accurate description of the music in words-check our MP3 section to get a better idea. During this time, and together with Goodiepal they contributed a track to the soundtrack to the film 'Bleeder'.

After their rhythmically berserk debut Knee (1997), and the more melodically varied Exploring Beauty (2001), Düreforsög have for the last one and a half years been working on material for Engine Machine. The writing of which was done during practice sessions, in various demo-studios. Using the two first albums as base, the band have worked and moved into a more abstract and open scale. Produced by the band themselves and mixed by Billy Gould and Flemming Rasmussen, the album is presented more as a series of sequences rather than as traditional fixed compositions, with a number of themes running throughout the entirety of the album ensuring that the overall structure is kept intact. Yet again, while perhaps a little drier, a little more aggressive, and a bit more "live" than the earlier album, it still throws a heavy ambience, and puts out an energy totally different from almost anything else that's coming out right now.

PRESS
"Sounding somewhere between PiL, Fugazi, Can, Einstürzende Neubauten and dEUS, this is abstract craziness at it's finest, for once an experimental record that really is like one long sonic laboratory.... It's a journey, perhaps what you could call a progressive rock band, but a billion times more out-there than such a title might suggest... It's difficult to describe a record such as this, because there's such a lot going on."
Chris Nettleton, Drowned in Sound 2002

"The closest analogy to Denmark's Dureforsog is probably Wire — certainly in their most creative period... It's perhaps facile to define the group in terms of others, especially when they have their own developed sound, and they're only going to get better. But the analogies serve as markers toward the territory they're mining — and finding a lot of gold in the seams."
Chris Nickson, All Music Guide

"Pigeonholing Düreforsög (Danish for animal testing apperently) is not what you would call the easiest of task's. Save to say if the Fall and Syd Barret decided to jam along with the Flamming lips in a Morrocan slave market under the drug addled direction of David Lynch it'll probably sound not entirely dissimilar to Exploring Beauty. Quirky slices of soundtracks to imaginery movies coalesce schizoid slices of discomforting art-core craftmanship, casual blurts of searing dynamism creep up on your sedated lobes carrying bloody great knives and the end result is nothing short of a mind altering sonic vivisection. Occasionally as genuinely horizon broadning as the first artistic flush of the ever influential Pixies, Exploring Beauty could similary prove to be the progenitory sound of the future."
IAN FORTNAM, Kerrang!
